Search Engine Optimization or SEO is the tool to make your online business visible to search engine users when they enter a relevant search. There are many techniques available to optimize your website for search engines. These techniques include submitting your website to search engines, submitting to directories, link building, blog and forum postings etc. These ways are employed by all website owners in order to optimize their business for online searches. However, not all available techniques are legitimate. Search engines have a clear demarcation on legitimate and illegitimate seo techniques. The former are referred to as white hat SEO while the latter is called black hat seo.
Black Hat SEO & White Hat SEO
The line between white hat and black hat SEO is not completely vivid. That is partly because these two types of search engine optimization techniques are not mutually exclusive. Instead they refer to the way SEO is carried out by search engine optimizers. Black hat SEO tools include spamming the web with dummy webpages stuffed with links so that your website appears popular, link farms, hidden links, hidden texts, cloaking etc. White hat SEO on the other hand uses search engine approved SEO techniques to optimize for search results and build page rank.
